A Bolt of Silk is a rare crafting material, which is required to craft certain armor types/parts for Elementalist, Mesmer, Ranger, Warrior and Ritualist classes (see Usage, below).

Acquisition

There is only one Artisan who can craft Bolts of Silk, this artisan in particular is only available in Guild Wars Factions. The most effective means of acquiring Bolts of Silk for Guild Wars Prophecies characters is to spend time hunting for spiders in Pre-Searing Ascalon. Spiders in Pre-Searing (except Moss Spiders) frequently drop Spider Webs, which can be later salvaged into Bolts of Silk with an Expert Salvage Kit. This item is often commonly dropped by Outcasts, as well as salvaging from their armor. Soloing them, often to kill their bosses, will give a large amount of it on the way.

For Nightfall players, spiders are abundant in the Plains of Jarin, just outside the Sunspear Great Hall.
