Entire groups of items that need to be included: Celestial, Destroyer, Tormented, to name a few. 17:13, 22 August 2008 (UTC)

- Would Zodiac items be considered animated? I'm thinking no. I have to take care of some college-related business, but I'll get back to doing random ones in a couple hours. 17:19, 22 August 2008 (UTC)

Rename[]
Um... this category should really have a better name. "Animated weapon skins" or "Weapons with animated skins" or something. —Dr Ishmael 17:25, 22 August 2008 (UTC)
- No, because it also goes on animated armor.--ìğá†ħŕášħ 17:46, 22 August 2008 (UTC)
- Even so, "Animated" is a little weak. :P —Dr Ishmael 18:18, 22 August 2008 (UTC)
- Could it be Animated Items? Ishmael is right, lots of things could be animated (all minipets, for example), but really this is applying to weapons/offhands/armor Sandaljack 18:21, 22 August 2008 (UTC)

- Animated is great because if the need arises, you can do sub-categories. For example, you could subcat the minipets into Animated with a single line in that category. But until there's no need, I wouldn't really bother. --◄mendel► 18:24, 22 August 2008 (UTC)
- Mendel, you are magic. 18:37, 22 August 2008 (UTC)
- Except we don't have a minipet category. (If someone wants to get going, make a set of redirect pages like "Shiro (minipet)" redirecting to Shiro, and cat the redirect.) --◄mendel► 18:40, 22 August 2008 (UTC)
- Hmm..I'll get to work on the pages after track practice if noone else does it. 18:44, 22 August 2008 (UTC)
- Why not just categorize the existing articles? That's where the MiniaturesNavBox gets displayed anyway. Why create extraneous redirects that no one will ever use? —Dr Ishmael 23:39, 22 August 2008 (UTC)
- Well, do you really want "Gwen" to be subcatted into "Animated"? or the monsters? actually, just subcat Category:Bestiary and be done with it. The point is, I guess, that a mini is a different entity than its "original", and some attributes differ. An alternative would be to just cat the Miniature article as "Animated". (PossessedLinebeck, it's be best to wait for consensus here before catting 50 articles.)
- I would also appreciate it if you (= everybody) could comment on having the celectial/destroyer/torment weapons catted "animated" by themselves - I feel it would be best to remove that again, now that we have subcategorized them. I've reverted the destroyers, but not the others (yet). --◄mendel► 23:52, 22 August 2008 (UTC)
- All the better. This will give us time to think how we can proceed even more flawlessly. 02:22, 23 August 2008 (UTC)
- The point is not to do it flawlessly - there are several options that are workable. The point is to make edits that stay edited. ;-) --◄mendel► 01:37, 24 August 2008 (UTC)

(Reset indent) So, does that mean we can now move this from Category:Animated to Category:Animated items? Over a year later, the only things in the category are weapons, so maybe Category:Animated weapons is better still? — Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 23:28, December 9, 2009 (UTC)
- I wouldn't consider shields and offhands to be weapons. 23:30, December 9, 2009 (UTC)
- I'm fine with "Animated items" — "Animated" is too amorphous an adjective to carry a category on its own shoulders.
- Incidentally, I believe that ANet considers shields and foci to be weapons...and so do we. Every page of collector or crafter weapons includes the offhands (AKA offhand weapons). — Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 23:42, December 9, 2009 (UTC)
- What about Miniatures? 23:44, December 9, 2009 (UTC)

- Since we don't have any other "collective" word (besides the too-ambiguous "items") to combine offensive weapons with defensive foci/shields, using "weapons" to describe "anything your character can equip in their hands" has always made sense to me.
- Miniatures are technically creatures, which are by default animated, so I wouldn't list them here. —Dr Ishmael 00:16, December 10, 2009 (UTC)
- Thus why I argued against "items" before I said that. "Equipment" also poses a problem, as that covers "anything your character can equip [anywhere]," which would include armor. —Dr Ishmael 00:37, December 10, 2009 (UTC)
- I do not see the problem with equipment. Is there animated armor (Destr Gauntlets come to mind)? And should we then add it? Why not? --- -- (contribs) (talk) 00:39, December 10, 2009 (UTC)
- Equipment is better, as it leaves room for armor; I don't see any need to separate armor from weapons at this point. — Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 01:24, December 10, 2009 (UTC)

Chaos[]
Are the Chaos items considered animated? 17:55, 22 August 2008 (UTC)
- Would a video capture show the item differently than a still screenshot? --◄mendel► 18:24, 22 August 2008 (UTC)
- Well met. 18:28, 22 August 2008 (UTC)
- I think chaos axe isn't but I'm not entirely sure about the gloves - I think they have a glow which grows/fades but I'm not entirely sure Jennalee 01:30, 25 August 2008 (UTC)

Destr. Gauntlets[]
Last time I checked, those weren't animated.. --- -- (s)talkpage 08:14, 24 August 2008 (UTC)
