Rename

Could it be Animated Items? Ishmael is right, lots of things could be animated (all minipets, for example), but really this is applying to weapons/offhands/armor Sandaljack 18:21, 22 August 2008 (UTC)

Animated is great because if the need arises, you can do sub-categories. For example, you could subcat the minipets into Animated with a single line in that category. But until there's no need, I wouldn't really bother. --◄mendel► 18:24, 22 August 2008 (UTC)

Why not just categorize the existing articles? That's where the MiniaturesNavBox gets displayed anyway. Why create extraneous redirects that no one will ever use? —Dr Ishmael 23:39, 22 August 2008 (UTC)

Well, do you really want "Gwen" to be subcatted into "Animated"? or the monsters? actually, just subcat Category:Bestiary and be done with it. The point is, I guess, that a mini is a different entity than its "original", and some attributes differ. An alternative would be to just cat the Miniature article as "Animated". (PossessedLinebeck, it's be best to wait for consensus here before catting 50 articles.)

I would also appreciate it if you (= everybody) could comment on having the celectial/destroyer/torment weapons catted "animated" by themselves - I feel it would be best to remove that again, now that we have subcategorized them. I'm fine with "Animated items" — "Animated" is too amorphous an adjective to carry a category on its own shoulders.

Incidentally, I believe that ANet considers shields and foci to be weapons...and so do we. Every page of collector or crafter weapons includes the offhands (AKA offhand weapons).   — Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 23:42, December 9, 2009 (UTC)

Since we don't have any other "collective" word (besides the too-ambiguous "items") to combine offensive weapons with defensive foci/shields, using "weapons" to describe "anything your character can equip in their hands" has always made sense to me.

Miniatures are technically creatures, which are by default animated, so I wouldn't list them here. —Dr Ishmael 00:16, December 10, 2009 (UTC)

Thus why I argued against "items" before I said that. "Equipment" also poses a problem, as that covers "anything your character can equip [anywhere]," which would include armor. —Dr Ishmael 00:37, December 10, 2009 (UTC)
