Using dye on the staff will change the entire appearance of the staff. The ornaments always change in the dye used, but the rest of the staff changes into something completely different. For example, using red on the staff results in the ornaments turning red and the rest of the staff turning into a bright, poisonlike green. The only exception to this rule is black.
