GuildWars Wiki talk:Suggestions/Face and hair galleries

While this information has been left undocumented I think it has been so for a few reasons.

• 1) There are simple way too many individual items to make an effective display of information. Most of the large collections of images galleries here on wiki are fragmented and hard to navigate as is.
• 2) The information would need to be very standardized due to the large size. It seems a lot of people have a hard time agreeing on standardizing things here on wiki.
• 3) Without fragmenting the gallery, you risk placing heavy latency on slower users not to mention general server lag as well.
• 4) To be honest I don't think most people have a strong interest in seeing this information here when they can see it, as well as tune, play, and adjusts its many features in-game more easily. Also I think most people don't have strong opinions about the standard game models. Armor covers them and armor offers a function whereas hair and face structure do not. Not to mention there is nothing prestigious for people to boast about like armor and weapons.

Pros:

1. Choosing a new character's looks is easier when you can pick a face from a page of faces.
2. You can use the head that corresponds to your character without having to upload a screenshot of your own, because it's already be in the gallery.

Is that worth all of the hard work? Who knows... I have a list of options (how many of each) on the other PC which I'm going to post once I find it again. --◄mendel► 06:38, 3 August 2008 (UTC)

You forgot to mention that if you don't have a free character slot, the in-game etc. option is not available. And I have a heavy interest in this project - or at least I would, except all my character slots are full. :\ (T/C) 06:45, 3 August 2008 (UTC)

Hm indeed a nice idea... at least to give an overview if something like that doesn't even exist here yet (never checked *blush*). I'm also interested in such stuff (yeah yeah I'm coming from Sims XD). I could delete a pvp char on my old (now unused) storage account, it has Proph and Factions. I guess finding someone with a free slot who provides the pictures isn't a major problem. Under what name should that go so that people find it? Character creating? Also I think most wouldn't even consider something like that here, would people look for something like that in the first place? I mean it's quite some work for each profession, wouldn't want to start with that if no one looks for it anyway. Ah I know... it could be added to the professions. Necro-Gallery to the Necromancer page etc (split by campaigns? Or all together?).--Birchwooda Treehug 17:38, 3 August 2008 (UTC)
