Marshall Whitman is one of two explorers from Ascalon who set out to explore the world outside their homeland a dozen years prior to current game time. Whitman, along with Marshall Tasca, set out looking for adventure and discovery. They became legends as they plotted out every inch of the Maguuma Jungle and the Shiverpeak Mountains where they established the outpost that is now known as Deldrimor War Camp. Unfortunately, Tasca suffered a horrific fall while exploring in the mountains and Whitman has been searching for clues to his fate.

Notes

It is believed that the area named Witman's Folly is named after Marshall Whitman (though they are spelled differently) since there also is an area called Tasca's Demise, probably named after the dead Tasca.
How Whitman and Tasca managed to map out so many areas and yet be so low level is somewhat inconsistent.
