FANDOM

Welcome to GuildWiki. Putting a "My Characters" category on your page probably isn't the best idea. If you want an easy way to reference all of your characters, you could have a separate page for each as sub-pages in your user space, as in a page at "User:Titania La Fey/Some Character", and then links to them from your main user page. Some people like to have show/hide boxes for characters on a user page. You can go check out the user pages of some other people and click edit to see the wiki code that produces a given setup, and borrow the code that gives a layout you like. This is harmless so long as you don't save any changes to someone else's page. Quizzical 05:19, 8 July 2009 (UTC)

Your page Edit

Hey, you recently wiped your page, do you need some help? Or would you like the page deleted? Thoughtful's RT sig testTalk 19:25, 8 July 2009 (UTC)

(moved from User talk:Randomtime)
I had a page started I didn't save it but I had the code in a text file but now its just displaying code when I preview or save the page. The preceding unsigned comment was added by Titania La Fey (contribs) .
Looks like you've got it now, you had nowiki tags all over the code, which would case the code to render incorrectly. Thoughtful's RT sig testTalk 19:45, 8 July 2009 (UTC)

Wikia editor Edit

Titania, I assume you have found out that the editor Wikia gives you has two modes of operation, one "word processing" mode and one "wikicode" mode. Would you say the word processing mode helps or hinders you? We're thinking of having it turned off and going back to editing wikicode exclusively (in fact, most editors do that now). I'd really appreciate your opinion and any insights you would share. (Please answer here, I'll see that.) --◄mendel► 22:29, 8 July 2009 (UTC)

If you are referring to the key that switches between Wiki Text(code, I assume) view verses the Rich Text view(word processing, again I assume) then I like having access to both. Other wise I'm unaware of what you are referring to. The Rich Text is easier to bring/call/search for Templets and import pictures wile the Wikitext makes it easier to work directly with the code. I'm not a programmer and I'm new to wiki so its not as easy for me to adjust the lay among other things were having both formats so far has been helpful; I'm not sure about in the future. Its sometimes frustrating because it will not let met out of the wikicode. All in all I would definitely have to say that the functions the Rich Text brings are very helpful. In the future should I come to grasp a better understanding of the tool I assume it will hinder me even less or maybe I will prefer to only use the wikicode as you mentioned some users have done. I like having many options, limiting your self to one way to solve a problem hinders yourself so I can't view the Rich Text or "word precessing" feature as a hindrance when it offers a second rout to go about editing.--La Fey 02:42, 9 July 2009 (UTC)
Thank you for your feedback. I wonder where you think "a better understanding" would be required and what the hindrances are. I am glad to hear that despite that, you see the net effect as positive.
The editor is locked to wikicode when it sees HTML comments (it doesn't display them in RT view), and on some pages where we have disabled it because it still has some bugs, such as in tables that use || to separate columns.
Again, thank you. --◄mendel► 09:45, 9 July 2009 (UTC)

Preview Edit

When you want to make a change, try clicking the Preview button rather than Save Page to see what your change will look like. If your edit does what you want, you can then save, and if the wiki code isn't working right, you can change it without spamming Special:RecentChanges. Quizzical 03:21, 9 July 2009 (UTC)

I forgot the changes were being recorded. I have been using Preview, I'll try to save things a little more sparingly then.--La Fey 03:26, 9 July 2009 (UTC) >>;

Just a few Image things Edit

Hiya! You uploaded a screenshot with the filename "Gw676.jpg." I moved it to Image:TitaniaGW676.jpg because generic filenames, in particular ones using the default GW screenshot filenames, are liable to be accidentally overwritten by other users. In addition, please remember to select the proper licensing terms from the drop-down box when uploading a file- in the case of the recent few, it would be screenshot. Images that do not have licensing information are automatically tagged for deletion after 7 days, so this way you can ensure that your files stay up and look nice. :) Felix Omni Signature 19:27, 9 July 2009 (UTC)

Ok, thanks for the pointers and moving the screen shot, also I have been trying to post the proper licensing I just am sorta scatter brained and have forgot a few times.I also cant seem to find how to change the licensing after I've accidentally submitted them w/ the improper licensing. >>; Thanks again. --La Fey 02:33, 10 July 2009 (UTC)

Deleting files Edit

Only mods can delete files. If everyone were allowed to delete files, some vandal could come through and delete hundreds and make a huge mess. To flag a page or file for deletion, edit it with the delete template. That is, at the top of the page, put {{delete|reason for deletion}}, with the reason why the page or file should be deleted in place of "reason for deletion". That will make it appear in Category:Candidates_for_deletion, which mods check periodically. If there's a good reason for the file to be deleted (the request of the user is good enough for anything in userspace), the mod will delete it when they see it. If someone puts a delete tag on a file or page that shouldn't be deleted (e.g., a content page in mainspace), then the mod won't delete it, and most likely, someone else will remove the delete tag before a mod checks the deletion category. Thank you thats what I was trying to figure out.--Titania La Fey icon.pngLa Fey 05:06, 10 July 2009 (UTC)

Thanks, and no, I just wanted to know how to mark the duplicate image I uploaded, under the wrong name, to be deleted.--Titania La Fey icon.pngLa Fey 17:39, 10 July 2009 (UTC)

Your userboxes Edit

Love 'em. :) --◄mendel► 01:44, 11 July 2009 (UTC)

Thanks so much. ^^ --Titania La Fey icon.pngLa Fey 05:26, 12 July 2009 (UTC)

Galleries Edit

Couple of things. First, how did you choose the location to put those galleries at? Like, you're putting them in a category, which I don't think is recommended. Second, if you're going to use the same dpl over and over again, have you considered creating a template instead? --JonTheMon 14:24, 19 August 2009 (UTC)

I'll try and move them didn't mean to make them categories. I guess I could put together a template. --Titania La Fey icon.pngLa Fey 04:39, 21 August 2009 (UTC)

Big changes for GuildWikiEdit

We, the GuildWiki community, have moved the GuildWiki content to a new site at http://www.guildwiki.org. It will maintain the look and feel of GuildWiki that you've been used to, and the majority of our active editors will be shifting their primary editing activity to there. (Read here for more information, including details on how to reclaim your account.)

The current wiki at guildwars.wikia.com will, of course, continue to be hosted by Wikia, and we have some big changes planned for it. Wikia has recently introduced a new user interface to all of its sites that emphasizes community interaction over encyclopedic content, so we're planning to leverage this new style and endeavor to turn GuildWars Wikia into more of a fan community site, promoting fan-created content better than GuildWiki did. (Read here for more information.)

If you are still playing Guild Wars (or would like to do so again), now is a good time to get involved, either on GuildWiki at http://www.guildwiki.org or right here on GuildWars Wikia.

Be sure to pass this info on to all other Guild Wars fans you know!
