The axe is a primary weapon that usually causes slashing damage. An axe must be equipped to use Axe Attack skills, most of which use adrenaline rather than energy.
The hammer is a two-handed weapon that usually causes blunt damage. A hammer must be equipped to use Hammer Attack skills, most of which either deal or benefit from knockdowns.

The sword is a primary weapon that usually causes slashing damage. A sword must be equipped to use Sword Attack skills, many of which use adrenaline as well as energy.

- Prefix = Sword Hilt
- Suffix = Sword Pommel
The shield is an off-hand defensive item used in conjunction with a primary weapon to give armor, health, damage reduction, and/or attribute bonuses. A shield can be used with a sword or an axe. If equipped with a hammer, it will give you an extra inventory space by going to your shield slot, but will not actually give the said bonuses or appear on your character.
