How do you obtain this quest? I spoke to him but I was unable to obtain it so I'm guessing I have to do something first Barinthus 23:33, 6 September 2007 (CDT)

This is part of the Northern Allies quest chain, you gotta do them in order iirc... Entropy Sig (T/C) 23:36, 6 September 2007 (CDT)
Misleading quest!
This is where the Norn story arc came to a complete standstill for me (too). When I first talked to Egil and he gave me this quest, I haven't completed it at that time. I cleared the altar by killing the Arctic Nightmares and then I probably left the area without actually spawning the Bear Spirit. The problem is there's no entry in the quest log that will show the status of this quest. To obtain "Blood washes blood" I had to go to the Sacred Altar again (south-east of Jaga Moraine), protect the flame which then spawned the bear that gave me this quest. Speaking to Egil didn't help (he just told me a story). After the bear spawned I could get "Blood washes blood" from it, but there was no cinematic. Perhaps I must talk to Egil again. Anyway, haven't completed "Blood washes blood" yet to see what happens next. Bottom line: This quest should be done in one go. If you're stuck here, go to the Sacred Altar and just stand on it / fight any mobs there until the bear spirit appears and gives you the next quest. (Rigid Rumin)
As with some other EotN quests, interrupting the storyline anytime after leaving the outpost or arriving in the next, can seriously screw it up. Safest bet is to abandon the quest, and restart from the last outpost. Skip any preparatory quests that are no longer offered - they should be registered as a fulfilled requirements. Also, you can't rely too much on the quest description, as it is indeed sometimes misleading. GW-Kuku 11:15, April 12, 2011 (UTC)

Fun Glitch

I just did this quest, but zoned before taking the reward. Had to zone back and track town Egil Fireteller to grab the reward. The cutscene ensued, but nobody was present in it, and the fire was unlit.

After the scene concluded, we were telepoted back to the fire (now lit), with both Egil and the bear spirit. Fun times Yamagawa 19:26, November 14, 2010 (UTC)
