Where you ID make a difference??[]

Okay, I found a rare bone staff yesterday in the Jade Sea. Because I only ID rares with one character, when I finally logged in with that char, who happened to be in Piken Square, the bone staff when identified ended up having a Damage+20% (vs. Char) on it. Can you actually get mods like that in Factions, seeing as though Char aren't present? Comments please!--— xis10al Xis10al sig icon 18:53, 19 July 2006 (CDT)

The properties of an item are determined when it drops. Many unidentified items can have their properties determined by using them while still unidentified, and then be sold on for the purpose of unlocking those properties on the account of the player who does finally identify them. IDing whites and potential for profit[]

I have one small problem with this sentence, "Even if an item is not declared unidentified, you can still use Identification Kits ("ID kits") to identify them, usually boosting the item's sell value to merchants by a small amount of gold." I have IDed many "white" items in Southern Shiverpeaks, Crystal Desert, Vabbi, etc.and had their sale value double (50gp to 105gp). The cost of 4gp per IDing of each white item (using Sup ID) often makes it a profitable venture ti ID white items with high inherent values. (66.207.82.138 06:50, 23 June 2007 (CDT))
Most times, the value of the increase is <15 gold, occasionally <4. If you've got the time and space, then yes, it's profitable. Otherwise, leave them and pick up other stuff (or redo the run!). --Kale Ironfist 07:28, 23 June 2007 (CDT)
I just added a small note on the matter, the statistics are according to the research I have done with a few pals of mine. I feel it's good in it's note position, as it's not important enough to warrant a place in any more significant portion of the article.Chlikaflok 08:46, 13 August 2007 (CDT)
