You have fought too recently to do that.[]

Does anyone know how soon after combat one can identify items? Something like ten seconds? -- Dashface User Dashface Sig 07:42, 6 June 2006 (CDT)

More like five. I know PanSola researched this somewhere, Just can't recall where. --Karlos 08:39, 6 June 2006 (CDT)

This has been removed from the game. You can now identify (and salvage) items while you fight if you like.---Milgram 07:10, 19 March 2007 (CDT)

This should be an in-game hint.[]

The amount of extra profit (yes, profit!) that I pull in just by identifying white items is amazing. I actually make enough gold now that I can keep up with buying skills at 1 plat each, which is a real improvement for me. I think this is the sort of small but very important advice that every player has the right to know. I wish there was some way to make it more evident, such as an in-game hint, or an article in The Scribe. If I had known about this earlier...aah, the platinums I could have made. Unidentified items give bonuses[]

I noticed that an unidentified shield of mine gave me +29 health when it was equiped. When i identified it, sure enough, it was +29 health. Anyone else notice that unid items give their bonuses? -divinechancellor

Always worked that way. Most people who sell unidentified items in bulk are well aware, at least. --Fyren 01:22, 28 January 2007 (CST)
Wow! That's quite interesting. -- Dashface Dashface 03:26, 4 February 2007 (CST)

Unidentified / Inscribable[]

Is there a way to determine if an Unidentified Item is inscribable or not? I know some skins from DOA, Desolation and Vabii so i know its Nightfall only items. What about unidentified items such as Gemstone Axe, Storm Bows, etc which are cross campaign items? Thanks. 203.167.69.66 00:45, 7 February 2007 (CST)

AFAIK only items found in the Nightfall campaign are even capable of being inscribable. So Storm Bows that are normally found in the Underworld are inscribable(so some claim) if they are found in the Realm of Torment, but the Storm Bows found in the Underworld are not. As far as telling if an Unidentified item is inscribable or not its pretty hit or miss. I've got Purple and blue items several times that don't have ANY extra specs, this seems to be very common with Fiery Dragon Swords.

Collectors that offer Identification Kits[]

I'd like to see the list of collectors that offer identification kits include more than just the monastery credits, quartermasters etc. It would be better to list all the collectors, for example Sehyal, Danton, Adhi and whoever else will trade you an id kit for a few collectable drops. 24.16.99.62 03:46, 2 April 2007 (CDT)
