Mini Destroyer

there is a mini destroyer of flesh

Someone told me it was from PC Gamer GW Special Edition.. I don't exactly know if that is true or anymore details..MiniHellKite 17:58, 18 September 2007 (CDT)
This is entirely true. See the Guild Wars Official Site for more info, however. I have no idea how people have it already... they probably are or know someone who works for a distributor or PC gamer itself (the most logical reason). Until the 25th... Damn them >< Mesodreth Blackwing 209.29.100.146 19:32, 18 September 2007 (CDT)
I'm so buying that magazine! Sirocco 19:56, 18 September 2007 (CDT)

I have a subscription to a different Magazine by the same company, and it usually arrives a few days before the release date. So, that's probably how they got it. Biscuits Biscuit 11:17, 19 September 2007 (CDT)
So, will you be able to get this from the Europe PC Gamer? Lyra Valo LVS 11:00, 25 September 2007 (CDT)
No, it is currently only offered in the North American PC Gamer. Europe is getting a promotion that can give a miniature Grawl, Zhed, Shiro'ken, Vizu, Oni, Naga, or Yeti. Details are here. --Goteki-45 Goteki-45 12:25, 25 September 2007 (CDT)
Thanks for the tip on the other minis. Of interest to me are the Oni, Shiroken Assassin and the Naga Raincaller. But a Hellhound would be a nice addition. -- Sabardeyn 13:00, 29 September 2007 (UTC)

Problem with code: I purchased the magazine, entered the code, and received a message saying that code was already in use. A common problem, I'm sure, but the solution given for those situations is to send an e-mail to custserve@pcgamer.com. All email to that address gets bounced back, so it's impossible to reach anyone given the procedure printed in the magazine. None of the magazines on the stand were plastic wrapped, and I looked for that a several stores before assuming they had just shipped them unwrapped. Be warned, there are thieves out there who steal these codes and the store, PC gamer, and AreaNet apparently take no measures to prevent this, nor do they care to deal with these cases after purchase. If a solution presents it's self, I'll post it here for others who may have the same problem. Likewise if anyone has dealt with this and knows who I have to contact, please let me know. Thanks. Vlatro

Update: The PC Gamer email is up and working again. They did resolve my issue very quickly after I was able to contact them. It appears they had some difficulties with e-mail address, but are now doing alright. Vlatro

That just sucks; good luck getting one, though. It's sad that PC Gamer didn't manage to think of something that simple and that their e-mail is down, heh. ~ GeckoSprite Pae 18:58, 25 September 2007 (CDT)
This is probably going to be an ongoing problem for PC Gamer and the other magazines if they're not shrink-wrapped. Scammers are going to take advantage of the situation and will effectively double the number of minis "released" versus copies sold. -- Sabardeyn 13:04, 29 September 2007 (UTC)

I assume you can but...

is it possible to get a mini on a PvP chr? i have one almost 11 months old. the only reason i still have him is because i'm hoping i'll get a mini off him. can anyone confirm? i always assumed that you could but i've talked to ppl who don't think you can. can anyone confirm?Curlytop2112 11:47, 12 August 2007 (CDT)

I guess you'll be able to tell us in a month, eh? ShidoSig moebius2 19:21, 14 August 2007 (CDT)

I've gotten one on a PvP character before. Jay Mcgrath 21:07, 16 August 2007 (CDT)

I can also confurm with a friend who usted to play, logged onto his account (while he was here) and he had one on his PvP charr!RT | Talk 19:08, 9 October 2007 (UTC)

galery

is it just late or is there no litch in the mini gallery on the bottom of the page? if its not just my eyes on this late time could some1 add one, im not gd at wiki coding. Thempest 19:19, 14 August 2007 (CDT)

Fixed.--Gigathrash 19:22, 14 August 2007 (CDT)

hmm, didnt notice but there also is no pic of Gwen, the elf, palawa joko, a hecket warrior and some other mini's so dont mind my last comment too much, its late as i said, though it would be nice if they were added Thempest 19:24, 14 August 2007 (CDT)

"You're All Alone!"

I was looking at YouTube videos and I saw a farming guide that stated having a mini pet with you can prevent "You're All Alone!" from effecting you. Can anyone confirm that this is true?~ GoldDeanIconDean - 20:48, 16 August 2007 (CDT)

Due to the way they work, minipets are allies that are untargetable (very much like the cows on Shing Jea). --Kale Ironfist 20:53, 16 August 2007 (CDT)
Except that those cows can be killed by AoE --Gimmethegepgun 22:35, 16 August 2007 (CDT)
We're getting off topic. I'm not in a guild atm so I cant test. The Hobo 22:42, 16 August 2007 (CDT)
Having a minipet grants energy from Leadership, so they do count as a nearby ally for at least that. Makes sense that it would work for YAA! as well. What about Horns of the Ox? Easy to test, just bring a mini, get hit, and see what happens. --GEO-logo Jioruji Derako.> 21:59, 19 August 2007 (CDT)
I didn't think they could be used in PvP? Like collector's edition dances.... 58.110.141.132 00:44, 19 September 2007 (CDT)

Mini Devona

Is this pic real or a fake? MageMontu 06:38, 27 August 2007 (CDT)

So fake, that isn't in ascalon city.M Javabean 03:10, 28 August 2007 (CDT)
...... Didn't u think that maybe its during the development of the game?

MageMontu 05:13, 29 August 2007 (CDT)

That is ascalon. Its the barn where devona stands in front of.

Yeah, unsigned dude, but the district list says ascalon city.84.9.237.184 05:24, 2 September 2007 (CDT)

The stuff mentioned already pretty much puts this fake to rest...but I'll also point out the devona in the pic is full size...the same size as the player...thus not a "mini".--Thor79User-thor79Talk 14:08, 12 September 2007 (CDT)

Note the mini Devona behind the player. Crimsonfox

This is more than likely from one of the development servers (especially because of the "Admin Pablo" data being printed out in the chat). Being on a dev server, the admin can do what he likes, like spawn a miniature model of Devona like we see in this pic. It doesn't mean it's in the game though. Biscuits Biscuit 11:21, 19 September 2007 (CDT)

That would explain that while Devona is targeted, the target pane shows an unnamed lvl 0 npc. Mesodreth Blackwing 209.29.103.130 13:45, 19 September 2007 (CDT)

Minipet Contest in PC Gameplay

Ok, I managed to find out that a benelux games magazine called "PC Gameplay" is having an miniature contest. (eu.guildwars.com/pcgameplay)

Rewards are: 650*Grawl 100*Longhair Yeti 100*Naga Raincaller 100*Oni 20*Shiroken Assassin 20*Zhed Shadowhoof And 10*Vizu.

Someone confirm this and update the article.

We can expect a massive minipet giveaway of some currently rather rare species. European game magazines have struck a deal with ArenaNet. official GW website. --Istabraq 10:52, 12 September 2007 (CDT)
A word of warning, the giveaway in PC Gamer (UK) is not guaranteed, I got my magazine today, with no minipet code, the magazine article says "If you weren't a lucky winner, well life sucks, eh? But you could always buy another copy of PCG..." imo this is a despicable scam, when all the other minipet giveaways in magazines before were guaranteed. The only chance appeared to be which grade of minipet you'd get, but if the figures for this dutch magazine are similar to that in PC Gamer (which has a circulation of around 41,000), then you'll be very lucky to get one at all! 81.179.113.131 11:00, 1 October 2007 (UTC)

Pre-Searing Mini-pets

I have a character that I have left in Pre-Searing since the Beta events in Spring 05. On her first brithday, she received a Hydra mini-pet. Surprisingly, on her second birthday, she received another Hydra. Is this the only Pre-Searing mini-pet received? Or perhaps do Pre-Searing characters only receive First Birthday pets? --Shira 15:22, 13 September 2007 (EDT)

No I've got a mini-bone dragon and a mandragor imp in pre-searing, so it's possible to get other minipets in pre :) I can provided proof if need be. Calliara 03:15, 27 September 2007 (CDT)

CE Upgrade

I noticed the other day that the GW Store sells upgrades from the standard to the Collector's Editions. Does anyone know whether this includes the mini pet?Sabardeyn 09:32, 17 September 2007 (CDT)

I just checked the online store and it doesn't offer any CE upgrades MageMontu 16:44, 17 September 2007 (CDT)

Yes, I went back to double check and couldn't find it either. Apparently I misunderstood one upgrade type to imply the other were available. Definitely "my bad". Sabardeyn 21:19, 17 September 2007 (CDT)

Regarding this edit...

Has anyone ever heard of a mini Destroyer? I don't want to revert it because of GW:AGF. --Macros 18:59, 17 September 2007 (CDT)

Apparently, there have been sightings of these minis, and someone even took a screenshot of one they saw in Kaineng Center. Kokuou 20:01, 17 September 2007 (CDT)

I just saw one in Rata Sum but the owner wouldn't comment on its origin.(Mon September 17, 07)

Gaile confirms their validity here, minipets to be offered in a special edition of PC Gamer. Supposedly details will be posted sometime today on guildwars.com --Goteki-45 Goteki-45 10:59, 18 September 2007 (CDT)
This would make PERFECT sense! People with a subscription to PCGamer would already have this special edition magazine, thus the sightings so soon. Mesodreth Blackwing 209.29.103.169 13:20, 18 September 2007 (CDT)

An individual selling a mini destroyer said that they had acquired it from a code in a French language version of PC Gamer.

Help

How do you add a mini to the nav box? The black moa chick needs added.. I put the nav box on it's page but dont know how to add to it Ravien Coromana 05:37, 19 September 2007 (CDT)

Done. You needed to edit the Template:MiniaturesNavBox file. Biscuits Biscuit 11:27, 19 September 2007 (CDT)

Mini Vizu

does anyone else think that the img for mini vizu down the bottom isn't vizu, but nika?

Oh thank goodness, I'm NOT crazy. It CLEARLY is a picture of Nika. I don't understand why Anet calls it Vizu...Unless they just so happen to look the exact same? 99.245.143.39 23:19, 25 September 2007 (CDT)

They're meant to look the same, but they never updated Vizu to look even remotely like Nika. It is Vizu because ANet calls it Vizu. --Kale Ironfist 23:46, 25 September 2007 (CDT)

duping?

I was reading the notes and it said "...because of major DUPING players were banned..." What does that mean?Fire Tock 09:12, 22 September 2007 (CDT)

Duping mans to duplicate an item. --Vipermagi 09:13, 22 September 2007 (CDT)

Like messing with the game or somehow actually duplicating the item?Fire Tock 09:15, 22 September 2007 (CDT)

Duplicating the item - I think it was via a trade glitch. It's since been fixed. Biscuits Biscuit 10:48, 22 September 2007 (CDT)
It was done via reconnects. See Game_updates/20070813 or more specifically, its talk page. It was discovered when someone tried to trade 1750 Armbraces of Truth for a miniature Kanaxai, and the person took a screenshot when he realized something was fishy. --Goteki-45 Goteki-45 13:41, 22 September 2007 (CDT)

The Destroyer from PC Gamer has an unlimited release but Holland has a grand total of 1000 minis? Is the gaming market that small there? Or is this kind of limited edition a viable advertising/sales ploy? You specify Holland so I'm assuming that it was just this market and not other European countries. Was the magazine shrink wrapped? Destroyer codes are being copied here. -- Sabardeyn 13:14, 29 September 2007 (UTC)
There was no code in the magazine... Just a question with 4 options, wich you could fill in on www.guildwars.com/pcgameplay/ along with your name, adress, email, etc. Pul 15:32, 29 September 2007 (UTC)

it is for whole europe, got an asura from game magazine gamestar. so that means 650 grawl, etc for all over europe. so if someone gets a vizu for example (and of course other stuff), you are very lucky.

Anet favors US loads more: they have destroyer and [1] and we only have 1000 in the WHOLE OF EUROPE /congrats Anet, way to gather a British fanbase! RT | Talk 19:03, 9 October 2007 (UTC)
Couple of UK members in my guild(and me) were most unhappy about that, specially the one who bought 3 copies of PC Gamer(1 for his 2 accounts and 1 for my account in exchange for getting him a destroyer) to get 2 pets. Seems pretty lousy in my book. I'm from the US, and ANYONE who buys the special mag here gets a destroyer, so it would at least be fair to have all the Europe players guaranteed to at least get the COMMON one, then just limit the uncommon/rare ones to 1000 total. You guys should at least get SOMETHING for buying the mag, even if it's just a grawl, and not this 1000 total for all of the entire freakin continent crap. DKS01 06:32, 10 October 2007 (UTC)

Ceratadon?

Just saw this in Kamadan dis 1 http://i195.photobucket.com/albums/z108/koekdeeg/gw810.jpg
The guy who owned it wouldn't tell how he got it because he was asked not to, anyone got any clues where this comes from? It's the necro on the right who owns it by the way. He said there are probably more but doesn't know how many. --Progger 13:34, 17 October 2007 (UTC)

And I am that Necromancer! It's a Gold miniature, like Progger said I can't say how I got it, and no I do not know anyone on the Anet staff or anything. But I was told not to say how I got the code. Most likely this is going to be a miniatre that will be available in the upcoming minipet promotion in US PC Gamer magazine. Probably the only one in game, has anyone else got one yet?

No, but i've heard of it, and it looks familiar.Fire Tock 14:35, 17 October 2007 (UTC)
