An Alternative Method[]
While doing the isle of dread quest, I realized i would never be able to catch up with the sneaky corsair. So i just left him alone after talking to Rahlon. Because of the location of the ancient undeads, i had to run around a wide arc north of the route the sneaky corsair takes. When I'm finished with the isle of dread quest, i backtracked and managed to ambush the sneaky corsair on the bridge. No cripple or anything is needed, just lots of henchmen to block his path. The reward for this quest seems impossible to get. After speaking with Rahlon, he rushes in a group of mobs and dies. You can do the quest anyway. After rezoning to get the reward, Rahlon was standing in the middle of mobs. By the time I get to him, it's too late (tried 3 times). Perhaps a Monk could manage to keep him alive.... --KarlLycos 03:16, 26 September 2006 (CDT)
Did you bring a monk hero KarlLycos? Alternatively you could clear all the mobs before taking the quest. I am not sure the strategies in the walkthrough will work. I found that when I set my heros and henchys to kill the coursair just as he spawned I still had to follow a trail of checkpoints along the route he would have taken and then found at the final point where the coursair stands and fights I could not complete the quest as he wasn't there to kill. Can anyone confirm that they have completed this quest by killing the coursair before he reaches the final point (by Commander Werishakul) where he stands and fights? I think the objectives may be misleading in saying to catch him before that. I am also not 100% sure that this is required for coursair invasion, but I'm pretty certain so I added it as the follow up. --Surreality 11:31, 5 November 2006 (CST)
I added the tactic regarding using a cripple. After several attempts we hit on that idea. My friend waited with his heros and mine on the beach just short of the first bridge. As a Dervish, he used a cripple and they were able to kill the corsair before he could run past them. We cleared out all the enemies up to that first bridge before activating the quest. Yes it worked, it is not a speculation. Only did it once however so I guess it could have been a fluke. Ragnar Babbage
- Interesting, so the real question is why it failed on my attempt. I think Horsetears may be on to something when he talks about having the heros in sight on accepting the quest. I'll try some experiments when I next have that quest. Surreality 20:32, 21 November 2006 (CST)
I ended up taking the quest, then circling wide coming at the Corsair from the North, killing mobs on his path. While Cripple would have made this a snap I ended up killing him with ranged weapons and a Charge. Oye 18:41, 3 December 2006 (CST)
Flagging your heroes or henchmen near the spawning point of the corsair will trigger the spawning point of the corsair to move to the next checkpoint, even if you have not talked to the npc to start the quest. Sometimes the corsair Won't spawn at all. I tried to chase, snare etc and failed lots of times this quest, and prior to yesterday I was able to complete it without any problem. The only solution was tracing an arc path from his spawning point to prevent him running, then retreat and face him, (hope this makes sense) luinks 08 December 2006.

It is not possible to outrun the Sneaky Corsair anymore. Even if you run straight to Commander Werishakul the Sneaky Corsair will be first, no matter what route you take. To beat the quest:
-Don't speak with Rahlon after leaving town.
-Go straight to Commander Werishakul using the same route as the Sneaky Corsair and kill all monsters on on this route.
-Kill Commander Werishakul; be carefull not to kill the Sneaky Corsair since he is already there.
-Go back to Rahlon to activate the 'hunt'.
-Kill the Sneaky Corsair.
-Meet Rahlon for your reward (he will be safe since you already cleared the way).
Odd, i did this quest earlier today on my ele...I didn't talk to rahlon, i brought storm djinns haste and deep freeze, used djinns haste right before u reach him...then deep freezed him and let henches swarm in and kill him. then i also mapped back to kodlonu on accident, then went outside and accepted reward from rahlon. 24 January 2007 Thefez
Requirements[]
I believe this quest is only available to Nightfall created characters. Oye 18:41, 3 December 2006 (CST)
- You're more than likely correct, the vast majority of quests around Istani are Nightfall characters only. Updated. --Zampani 00:05, 4 December 2006 (CST)
Map[]
Added a map with the route of Sneak Corsair, makes the walkthrough things easier -- 09:55, 17 January 2007 (CST)
Quest can still be completed if Rahlon dies[]
I made the quest 5 minutes ago and Rahlon died, so i ported back to Kodonlu, walked out and talked to him to get my reward. It worked.
Easy completion[]
Assassin with a Shadow Prison build - swing around to the south and keep the Corsair on the fringe of your radar, then after you get past the island where he spawns, swing back northeast to intercept. One combo later he's dead. --Dragonaxe 23:57, 5 February 2007 (CST)
Bugged[]
No matter what I do, whether I chase him, sneak around, or kill the boss, this quest always ends up failing. It fails either when he gets to the end, or I get too far away from him. It didn't use to do this (I would know, I've done it 4 times before). Does anyone have any advice? --Macros 22:23, 21 October 2007 (UTC)
- (thread necromancy!)Yeah, I've had it too, but I just got tired after about 7 tries and abandonned the quest.--El_Nazgir 17:10, 12 February 2009 (UTC)
The Lone Raider[]
I found a very simple way to complete this quest and did so on my first attempt.
Do not speak to quest guy when you enter the zone!
Go ahead and clear all the mobs right upto the docks where all the Corsairs are, which is where the Sneaky fellow ends up. He will spawn and run ahead as normal but ignore him.
Now work your way back and accept quest.
Head back to the Corsairs docks and the Sneaky guy will be standing there amongst other Corsairs.
Simply flag your H/H's at the Sneaky one and they will kill him and the remaining Corsairs. Quest complete.
Run back and hand in :)
I know that the Sneaky Corsair is at "his friends" when you kill him but it didn't seem to matter for me, so give it a go - it beats chasing the guy all around the coast :)
