I believe that this collector is an allusion to a character in George R.R. Martin's Song of Fire and Ice series ("Varis the Spider"). Should some text be added about it?
- I agree - it's the first thing I thought when I read the name, and it wouldn't be the first SoIaF reference either. I'm not editing it yet though, since some people seem to get annoyed at people finding references everywhere. --cgfreak
- Seems plausible from what little evidence there is. Too bad it is a Prophecies collector - none of those have additional text which could be used to draw further connections.

- The SoIaF character's name is spelled Varys, but I still agree it's a reference. The developers must have read them, because the names Koss and Sunspear also appear in the books.--UlmoSan 03:04, 16 April 2008 (UTC)
