Although I understand that flare spamming probably won't ever be good per se, I am going to use this page to come up with the best possible flare spammer. I will be updating this as I get more ideas, but my current idea is using Vampiric Spirit in combination with Flare and Mark of Rodgort for constant burning as well as 100 damage per flare.

If anyone can come up with a better (More powerful flare spammer), I would be very interested to see it. This is a mini-contest in which you have to design a build that simply by casting flare, you can out-damage my Flare Spammer. While you can use skills to effect the damage caused by Flare, you can only use casts of Flare to actually cause the damage (i.e. you can't stick Flare into an SF build). The build also had to be realistic, for example, you can't use my builds and simply change the attributes so you have no points in Energy Storage since you couldn't realistically maintain energy.

Below are statistics and analysis that deal strictly with the skills found on the template.


Usage:

  • Cast Fire Attunement --> Mark of Rodgort --> Vampiric Spirit (and recast as necessary)
  • Spam Flare

Damage Analysis:

  • Factoring in aftercast, over a period of 100 seconds, Flare + Vampiric Spirit will result in roughly 5700 total damage.
  • Additionally, assuming Mark of Rodgort is constant, an additional 1400 AoE damage will result from burning
  • Total DPS is roughly equal to 71
  • Factoring in Vampiric Spirit and Fire Attunement, over 100 seconds, Flare spamming would cost roughly 313 energy not including the actual cost of casting any of the other skills.

Increasing Damage via Variants:

  • Glyph of Elemental Power will very slightly increase DPS
  • Using other more powerful Fire spells, particularly Fireball will also obviously increase DPS (Although Energy Management will become harder)
    • As a result, this build, like any other Elementalist build can become vastly more effective with multiple sources of energy management, for example a Battery Necromancer.
  • Awaken the Blood can be used to increase the bonus damage from Vampiric Spirit

Necromancer Primary vs. Elementalist Primary

  • The real question here is whether, for the purposes of PvE, Soul Reaping would be more effective than Energy Storage. Not quite sure what the answer is, so I will leave it alone for now.

Possible Sources of Error:

  • The data regarding damage per second does not factor in time spent renewing either of the enchantments or the hex and assumes that Flare can be cast the maximum number of possible times over a period of 100 seconds.
  • Errors in calculation may also be present since I did the math relatively quickly.

Conclusion:

  • Obviously, this is not the most effective way to cause DPS. Searing Flames alone can out-pace this skill set. However, this build has very good survivability, and, for a Flare Spammer is relatively impressive.
