I'm not sure why wikia has decided that its wikis need blogs. It seems to me that wikis are already designed to encourage comment, tagging, and hotlinks. This, "not editable by the community" feature seems overrated, at least at all the wikis I've seen...people don't edit each other's talk, typically.

If wikia has time to be adding a blog feature, why don't they have time to fix issues in features they already have (WYSIWYG editing, table editing, widgets, wikianswers, etc), encourage better content by creating spiders that spot duplication (to encourage wikis to merge, or admins to combine articles), improve load times by streamlining javascript, and so on?
